holiday takes you to the Cère valley on the edge of the spectacular
Monts du Cantal. Explore the old spa town of Vic sur Cère
and visit historic Mur Le Barrez. On a warm summers day in Auvergne,
as you cycle across the plateau, you can see for miles. Hear the
buzzards and kites call out as they glide on the currents of warm
air.

1: Arrive at St Flour |
On
arrival at the railway station, you will be met by our
representative who will take you to our base hotel. You
stay in the centre of St Flour, perfect for exploring
the narrow lanes of this charming town. |

2: St Flour - Neuvéglise
27 kms |
An excellent
cycling route, on tracks and small roads through varied countryside.
The dolmen (ancient standing stones) and stone crosses signposted
along the way make a welcome diversion for a short rest.

3: Neuvéglise |
You might
take a day trip to the Chateau dAlleuze or, alternatively,
cycle to the lake at Lanau along some top ten cycling
roads. The energetic might want to go on to the historic town
of Chaudes Aigues.

Take a packed
lunch today to eat on your journey across the plateau through
small villages and hamlets. Stop at Brezons to see the old church.
Throughout the day there are magnificent views of the Monts
du Cantal in the distance.

day trip to the charming small town of Mur Le Barrez is an excellent
way to spend your day. There are plenty of restaurants to choose
from as you wander around the narrow lanes of this ancient town.

A trip along
some very pretty lanes from the plateau across to the borders
of the Monts du Cantal. Perhaps stop in Pailherols for a mid-morning
drink and a look in the church opposite the bar. After lunch
there are some cool shady roads through woods to Vic sur Cère.

Plenty
of choice for your day off today. You might
walk to the Rocher des Pendus and have lunch at the nearby
restaurant. Alternatively, visit Aurillac, the capital
of Cantal by bike or by train, or relax by the hotels
pool. |

In the morning,
cycle to the impressive Chateau de Pesteils before catching
a train to Neussargues, from where it is a short cycle back
to St Flour.
