cyclists who like to cover slightly longer distances, travelling
over 50km including some climbing each day. Visit the spectacular
Garabit viaduct and the spa towns of Vic sur Cère and Chaudes
Aigues. Explore Aurillac, the bustling departmental capital and
the wide open spaces of the Monts du Cantal.

1: Arrive at St Flour
On
arrival at the railway station, you will be met by our
representative who will take you to our base hotel. You
stay in the centre of St Flour, perfect for exploring
the narrow lanes of this charming town.

2: St Flour to Chaudes Aigues

Start
your holiday with a day on tracks and small roads through
Ruynes en Margeride. Visit the spectacular Garabit viaduct
and have lunch overlooking the Truyère river on
your way to historic Chaudes Aigues, famous for its hot
water springs.

A chance
to explore the plateau on a circular route through green fields,
woodland and lush green valleys, rich in wild flowers. Cycle
to the Gorges du Bès and leave your bikes awhile to hike
down into the gorge.

A lovely
cycle that broadly follows meanders of the Truyère river.
A chance to see the amazing range of birds and mammals that
live in the area. A warm welcome awaits you in the small auberge
in Pont La Vieille.

A
cycle at higher altitude in the high valleys and clear air of
the Monts du Cantal. A day of magnificent views and wide-open
countryside with energetic climbs over passes and along valleys
to the foothills of the highest peaks of the region.

The morning's
cycle is over the beautiful, unspoilt and ancient landscape
of this quiet corner of Auvergne on your way to bustling Aurillac,
the departmental capital. In the afternoon explore the old town
and then visit the Museum of Volcanoes.

A
choice of activities today. Explore by bike or by train
or alternatively try one of the walks we recommend around
the area. There are walks to suit all abilities if you
choose a day off from cycling.

8: Vic sur Cère
- St Flour
67 kms
An
excellent day's cycle on small roads beside the Cère
valley through Auvernat villages, past the ski-station
of Le Lioran. Perhaps take the cable car to the summit
of the Plomb du Cantal. The final leg of your tour crosses
the high plateau of the planèze and gently descends
to St Flour.

for Home
After breakfast,
our representative will take you to the railway station for
your journey home.
