A
holiday set on the high plateaux, deep valleys and gorges of the
Truyère. Enjoy the climb from the blue lakes to the plateaux
where you are on top of the world. Follow the contours of the landscape
for spectacular views and excellent cycling. Visit the typical small
town of Chaudes Aigues with its bars and restaurants and its famous
hot spring.

1: Arrive at St Flour
On
arrival at the railway station, you will be met by our
representative who will take you to our base hotel. You
stay in the centre of St Flour haute perfect for exploring
the narrow lanes of this charming town.
Day
2: St Flour - Neuvéglise
27 kms
A lovely
day's cycle on quite roads and tracks through woods, farmland
and unspoilt countryside. Stop along the way to wonder about
the builders of the dolmen (ancient standing stones) to be found
signposted just off the road.
Day
3: Neuvéglise
A
typical small French town. A day trip to the ruined Chateau
dAlleuze by the blue waters of the lake created by the
hydro-electric dam at Grandval.

4: Neuvéglise - Chaudes Aigues
27 kms
Some "top
ten" cycling roads today, with great views over the lake.
There are one or two hills to climb but they are soon conquered
and well worth the effort for the freewheel across the plateau
on the other side.

5: Chaudes Aigues
A small town
with its own unique character. Chaudes Aigues claim to
fame is the hot water spring that emerges in the centre of town.
At 82° centigrade, it is nearly hot enough to make a cup
of tea.

6: Chaudes
Aigues - Garabit
39 kms
Good
cycling terrain. Perhaps take a lunch stop at Faverolles
before a tour around the Chateau de Chassan. Arrive in
Garabit for your unforgettable first view of the huge
viaduct built by Gustave Eiffel before he built the Eiffel
Tower and every bit as impressive.

7: Garabit
Plenty of
choice for a day trip on your bicycle or a relaxing boat trip
on the lake. Or perhaps just enjoy a rest by the hotels
swimming pool.

8: Garabit - St Flour
20 kms
Cycle on
small roads and woodland tracks on the last full day of your
holiday. Pause by the river in St Flour bas, then continue through
the old town to your base hotel.

9: Leave
for Home
After breakfast,
our representative will take you to Neussargues railway station
for your journey home.
