An easy holiday covering the highlights of the area. Cycle through vineyards to the wine centre of Arbois. Continue along quiet roads and tracks to the rivers and lakes in the south with their spectacular waterfalls.

Day 1: Arrive at Champagnole

On arrival at the railway station our representative will take you to our base hotel, known for its old-style grandeur and friendly family welcome.

Day 2: Champagnole - Arbois
40 kms

Cycle along narrow roads through woods and farmland: typical Jura countryside. Picnic in the forest or at the viewpoints above the cliffs. Stop and visit the caves at Moidons, which boast a million stalactites.

Day 3: Arbois

You are spoilt for choice for a day trip today. For an easy day, cycle to the vineyards around Pupillin, to sample the best wines of the region then lunch in the Auberge. The more adventurous can cycle across the Loue River to the villages on the river and Arc-et-Senans.

Day 4: Arbois - Passenans
32 kms

Meander along excellent cycling roads through vineyards, past farms and small villages. Stop in Poligny for shopping and visit the cheese museum. Continue on to the tranquil setting of your hotel at Passenans.

Day 5: Passenans

A day trip to see one of the prettiest villages in France, Baume les Messieurs, set in a deeply cut gorge. The cliffs rise on either side as you approach the village, drawing you into the valley.

Day 6: Passenans - Doucier
39 kms

Cycle to the picturesque village of Château Chalon built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Bresse plain. Continue along the top edge of the gorge with superb views across the valley. Then cross-country to the lakes region to Doucier and the Lac de Chalain.

Day 7: Doucier

Visit the Cascades du Hérrison and then continue on foot up the Hérrison River and leave the coach parties behind.

Day 8: Doucier - Champagnole
14 or 42 kms

Take the easy route past the Lac de Chalain cross-country through woods and small villages. Or take the longer route to peer over the edge of the gorge for a different view of the waterfalls on the Hérrison River.

Day 9: Leave for Home

After breakfast, our representative will take you to the railway station for your journey home.
