grand tour through some of the most beautiful parts of Jura. A holiday
for cyclists who want to cover slightly longer distances and arent
afraid of a little hilly terrain. Based on our eight-night holiday
with an additional two nights in a very comfortable hotel at Passenans
to visit Baume les Messieurs and Château Chalon, two of the
prettiest villages in France.

1: Arrive at Champagnole |
You will
be met at the railway station by our representative who will
take you to our base hotel.

2: Champagnole Malbuisson

As
soon as you leave town you are in very pretty countryside:
gently undulating terrain through woods and farmland,
past small villages, rivers and waterfalls. |

3: Malbuisson |
Our excellent
hotel, on the banks of Lac St Point, is a picturesque spot to
spend the day relaxing. The roads around the lake are very popular
with local cyclists as training routes, being well surfaced
and as challenging as you want to make them. Further afield,
visit the imposing Château de Joux; or cycle to Metabief
for a trip in a cable car and walk to the summit of the Mont
dOr.

4: Malbuisson

A
longer days cycle with some stunning downhill stretches.
Visit the source of the Loue River where it gushes from
the base of a towering cliff. Then freewheel alongside
the gorge to Mouthier Haute-Pierre and Lods, beautiful
and unusual farming villages in the Loue valley. |

5: Bonnevaux

The hotel
is a converted water mill in a tranquil green valley. Follow
the chefs suggestions in the exceptional restaurant for
an unforgettable gourmet experience.
Cycle to historic Besançon and its 17th century Citadel.

6: Bonnevaux

50 kms |
Start
the day with a visit to the picture postcard town of Ornans.
Then on past the château at Cléron through
tiny villages along small roads in rural undulating countryside
to Salins les Bains. |

les Bains |
Cycle to
the pretty villages on the Loue River and Arc-et-Senans, then
continue to Quingey through very pretty countryside back to
Salins.

les Bains Passenans

Not
a long cycle today. Stop for a tasting in the wine shops
of Arbois before tackling the hill to Pupillin. After
lunch at the Auberge, continue on uphill to the medieval
town of Poligny, famous for its Comté cheese. |

9: Passenans |
A
day trip to see two of the prettiest villages in France.
First, visit Baume les Messieurs then continue on to Château
Chalon in its imposing setting on a rocky spur with commanding
views over the surrounding countryside. |

Champagnole
58 kms |
Cycle to
the viewpoint at the top of the falls above the Cascades du
Hérrison to walk the footpath between the waterfalls
and perhaps have lunch at the Auberge. Then cycle on through
forest and small villages on excellent cycling roads back to
your base hotel.

for Home |
After breakfast,
our representative will take you to the railway station for
your journey home.
