Gentle walking in the vineyards around Arbois to the medieval town of Poligny then a meander south through tranquil countryside to Château Chalon.
Start in Arbois, the bustling centre of Jura’s wine trade. Visit Pupillin, surrounded by prestigious vineyards, where the wine shops offer tastings before you buy.
Walk to the hilltop village of Château Chalon, perched on its rocky spur.

Day 1: Arrive at Arbois

On arrival at the railway station our representative will take you to our base hotel, in the pretty town of Arbois. There is no restaurant at the hotel so we advise on the many options available in town.

Day 2: Arbois
13 kms

Explore the caves under the cliffs at Les Planches, an amazing example of the strange sculptures made by water flowing underground. Then perhaps have lunch in the smart restaurant nearby before returning along the valley to Arbois.

Day 3: Arbois - Poligny
15 kms

The day starts in woods and pasture which give way to neatly laid out vineyards around Pupillin. Continue to the Grande Corniche and the views over Poligny before descending into town.

Day 4: Poligny
9 kms

A circular walk to neighbouring villages and the Croix de Dan on top of the cliffs that border the town. A different perspective on the town from the opposite side of the valley.

Day 5: Poligny - Passenans
12 kms

A very pleasant walk through woods, pasture and vineyards. Enjoy the unspoilt countryside and the scent of the pines.
Stop to look around the pretty village of St Lothian, its church and 9th century crypt.

Day 6: Passenans
15 kms

A circular walk to Château Chalon, with points of interest along the way. Visit Frontenay Chateau and church, then continue to Château Chalon before returning along the former Roman road.
