Cycling Holidays in France

We offer unique independent cycling holidays in France. Most of our routes are between 25km and 50km per day along quiet country lanes. If you want more, then try our range of 'Trailblazer' cycling holidays which are ideal for those who like to cover longer distances. These holidays cover up to 90 km per day on quieter roads, suitable for road bikes if you want to bring your own. Where we can, we offer a choice of alternative shorter routes. Combine your day's cycling with sightseeing and wine tasting.

We lend you a bike specially suited to the quiet country roads, towpaths and tracks that you may encounter. We do not use very rough or difficult tracks; this is a holiday, not the Tour de France or a mountain bike race. We provide hybrid bicycles that are comfortable and easy to ride for keen and occasional cyclists alike. Your bicycle will be cleaned and serviced ready for you to use. The bikes are well equipped and all have panniers big enough to carry your essentials for a day out in the countryside.

Auvergne

These cycling holidays take you on a journey through the deeply rural landscape of Auvergne. Cycle on quiet backroads and small tracks for unexpected views and surprise discoveries.

Fresh air and fine food combine to ensure you will finish your holiday relaxed, refreshed and fitter, with memories of a small adventure in this amazing landscape.

Crossing the plateau from St Flour, pasture gives way to forest as you approach the high peaks of the Monts du Cantal. The cycling follows the contours of the terrain where possible, maintaining height and spectacular views. In the south of our cycling region, as you leave the plateau, the rivers and lakes provide the scenery as well as fresh fish for the Auvergnat cuisine.

Each day’s cycle will get you closer to the heart of rural Auvergne, via some famous and some less well known points of interest. The ancient standing stones to be found dotted around the area are often just off the road, marked by small signposts. On a bicycle you can take a rest and explore.

This is the quietest, most rural of our holiday areas and also our most popular holiday destination. The terrain is sometimes hilly but the routes are all suitable for the occasional cyclist.

Then enjoy a gastronomic evening in your comfortable hotel.
A bicycle is the perfect way to explore this beautiful corner of France.

Our holiday region is in the departements of Saône et Loire and Côte d’Or. The circuits are centred between Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, and Tournus, a pretty small town on the Saône river.

The terrain is varied. In the north, near Beaune, the hillsides are covered with vineyards where some of the most celebrated wines in the world are produced. To the south and east, the terrain is gentler, with small tracks and excellent cycling.

From the plains of the Bresse in the east to the vineyards in the west, the cycling is easy. Tourist attractions of the area are all accessible by bicycle and we recommend interesting itineraries for each day.
