Useful Information

A helpful guide to assist you in having a great holiday!

Our representatives

We have a representative in each holiday area who will meet you at the railway station when you arrive and give you a lift back there on your journey home. The representatives are also there to help with any problems you may encounter and, of course, to move your luggage to your next hotel.

On arrival at the base hotel at the beginning of your holiday, our representative will brief you with detailed holiday information and cyclists will be given their bicycle and adjustments made to suit their needs.

Meals and accommodation

Accommodation is generally in 2 or 3 star hotels although occasionally we use very good chambres d’hôte, which are outside the hotel grading system but are equally comfortable. Most of our hotels are independent and family run and the owners pride themselves on the quality of the service, accommodation and food. Breakfast and evening meals are provided, except where stated. You only pay for extra items like drinks and coffee after meals.

Luggage

We transport baggage between hotels. Every item must be easily carried and clearly labelled with the party leader’s name, the tour name and the total number of bags.

Maps and holiday notes

All the holidays are supported by detailed route notes and local information designed to help you get the most out of your holiday. We provide 1:25,000 or 1:100,000 maps as appropriate for walkers and cyclists.

Travel arrangements

We can book all or part of your journey. Choose between Eurostar and air travel or self drive arrangements to suit yourself. These options are all priced on the prices reference pages.

Rail Travel

Eurostar trains offer a fast, comfortable passenger service from London to Paris.

Onward travel to your holiday region is by train. You will be met at the station by our representative who will take you to the base hotel.

Self drive holidays

If you wish to drive to your holiday region, we have arrangements with Eurotunnel and P&O Ferries who both offer an efficient service between England and France. We can offer advice on routes, mileages and timings for planning your journey. If you want to spend a little longer, we can advise on and book stopover hotels for you en route.

Air Travel

For clients travelling by air, we have asked Global Star Travel, an IATA agent, to arrange flights on your behalf. Payment is made to Global and they will send you a booking confirmation for air tickets booked with them.

The flights shown in this brochure are with scheduled airlines from London to Paris and regional airports. Flight times are shown as a guide as at the time of printing the brochure airlines may not have set their timetable. Please ask if you would like to travel from an alternative airport. If you want to make your own flight arrangements, we will be happy to advise.

Onward travel to your holiday region is by train. You will be met at the station by our representative who will take you to the base hotel.

Our representative can only meet those trains indicated in the brochure.

Hotel Ratings

Hotel ratings given in the brochure are the official French rating system.

Passports and Visas

As a visitor to France you are required to hold a current passport. Foreign nationals are advised to contact their French embassy to check their visa requirements.

Insurance

It is a condition of booking that each customer is covered by personal holiday insurance. If not purchased through Boots & Bikes, your own insurance policy must provide comparable or greater cover than the insurance offered by Boots & Bikes.

Boots & Bikes must be in possession of the 24-hour emergency number given for the personal holiday insurance together with the insurer’s name and the policy number.

Taxes

Airport departure tax, UK airport tax and insurance premium tax are included in the price of your holiday where applicable. Taxe de sejour (a local tourist tax) is payable locally.

Health

The E111 form available from Post Offices entitles you to reimbursement of certain medical costs in EU countries.

At the time of printing no vaccinations were compulsorily required for travel to France.

Travel costs excluded from the price of your holiday.

The cost of airport shuttles, RER and metro tickets and public transport, except where specified, is excluded from the price of your holiday.

Garaging for cars

Garaging for cars for the duration of your holiday is not guaranteed.

Special requests

If you have special requests, you must advise us of these at the time of booking and clearly note them on your booking form. Although we will pass on any reasonable requests to our suppliers, we cannot guarantee that any request will be met.

If you or any member of your party has any medical condition or disability which may affect your holiday, please tell us when you make your booking and clearly note it on the booking form so that we can advise you of the suitability of the chosen arrangements.

Your peace of mind

We have arranged financial failure insurance with International Passenger Protection Limited to provide financial peace of mind for our clients. In connection with air travel, your flight is booked with Global Star Travel, IATA agent 91258635, who will issue you with a booking confirmation for the flight element of your holiday.
